Frequently Asked Questions – Sheep & Alpaca Shearing Perth
How Often Should You Shear Sheep in WA’s Climate ?
Most sheep in Western Australia are shorn once a year, usually during spring before the summer heat. However, factors like breed, wool growth, and regional climate can change this.
Sheep with faster-growing wool or living in cooler, wetter parts of WA may benefit from shearing twice a year to prevent matting and flystrike.
Your local shearer can help you plan a schedule that keeps your flock healthy and your wool in top condition all year round
Most sheep in WA should be shorn once a year, usually in spring or early summer, before the hottest months. Annual shearing keeps your sheep cooler, cleaner, and reduces flystrike risk.

Yes. We can plan shearing, worming, lice treatment, and vaccinations together — saving you time and minimising handling stress.
Do small or hobby farms need to deworm too?
Yes. Even small flocks or alpaca herds in Perth can carry parasites that spread quickly. Regular care keeps your animals healthy and your land productive.
